The Nose wanted to create something that speaks of the lack of eloquence. While creating, he was inspired by the brutalism movement and a character from Italian history – Marcus Junius Brutus, Roman senator who was mainly known for his lack of expressive rhetoric. He wasn’t a conversationalist, he was precise, sharp, direct and brutal. Once decided, he did never change his mind. Brutality never engages into negotiations, neither accepts any compromises. Nature is brutal and only the fittest survive, it is the Darwinian evolutionary theory as a way of describing the mechanism of natural selection. The biological concept of fitness is defined as reproductive success. From the concept and olfactory point of view, Alessandro wanted to create something controversial. Just as the nature that can be brutal from one side, it can be perfectly balanced and beautiful from another. This is a fragrance that on the contrary to it’s name, Brutus, is very elegant, polished and subtle, it captures the link between the attraction and repulsion, between the name and the scent itself. Brutus takes the moment and doesn’t change, it is the meaningful moment of life. It is the essence of life signifying that every life is a matter of one single moment, the moment when one realizes the true nature of himself and who he really is.

EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ is a tribute to the Aegean Sea, an elongated inlet of the Mediterranean Sea located between the Greek and Anatolian peninsulas, which has been historically important, especially in regards to the civilization of ancient Greece, which inhabited the area around the the Aegean coast and the Aegean islands. The Aegean islands facilitated contact between the people of the area and between Europe and Asia.
EGE is the Turkish name for the sea that is derived from the Greek name ΑΙΓΑΙΟ. Having both names together as the perfume name (EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ) is a deliberate choice by NISHANE in order to pay homage to the skies and culture shared by the Turks and Greeks who are the neighboring residents of the Aegean, which, like Heredotus said: a world of summer sea breeze, deep blue waters with every pebble in the background clearly visible, towns and villages filled with houses painted white and blue, a common kitchen bond, shared instruments and lyrics that have a feeling of nostalgia mixed with hope, a coexistence and interdependence of centuries.
The motto of EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ is: “blue is the color of longing for your most beautiful dreams in this blue world, enjoy sharing the glamor of being able to see the same charming blue no matter from which part of the landscape you look at it.

At harvest time, evenings are filled with its aroma… and the sunset is coloured by the newly cut flowers strewn over the fields. The humble alembics installed near the reservoirs glow with red flames into the night. Lavender is so connected to Provence that often farmers don’t realise that it was introduced during the Roman invasion which gave this region the designation of ‘Provincia Romana’ from which its name derives. As a perfumer, I love the strength of these landscapes and the beauty of the lavender fields where flocks of blue butterfly’s float in the air. To bring this scene to life, I composed Lavande Romaine a joyful fragrance that dances and sings a summer tune.
