Bal d’Afrique is one of my earliest fragrances. At the time of its formulation, I was obsessed with the translation of memories into scent. At the same time, I felt confident enough to include an imaginary component. My father lived and travelled in Africa for about 10-15 years. I would read his diaries; the way he travelled on freight ships, met all kinds of different people… For me, this was the fantasy of arriving in Africa through somebody else’s words. Bal d’Afrique reflects that; it’s an imaginary journey as well as a complete celebration of how I see African culture and its influence.

Acqua di Parma introduces the antique method of La Spugnatura to the Arancia Vaniglia citrus fruit, extracting precious essences that express the fruit in all its depth and richness. The limited-edition fragrance comes in a precious porcelain bottle, an exceptional masterpiece entirely crafted from a traditional artisanal process. The porcelain bottle and cap are refined through deliberate, intricate, hours-long manual processes. Set in an intense blue colour emblematic of the Blu Mediterraneo collection, obtained by adding cobalt into the mix, the shiny porcelain pieces are then individually decorated by hand with white, orange, and gold motifs.

Our baptism into the darkness came about when we discovered Said London - the legendary Soho chocolatiers. Just walking in there off the cold, dark streets of W1 feels like a sensory reawakening, as you let their aromas into your airwaves, and the flavours onto your tongue. Said soon became a weekly, guilty pilgrimage spot for us, a place to train our senses. When it came to creating bottling our addictions, it was one of our first places we thought about.
